Nancee Blum, MSW

Nancee Blum, MSW, is a social work specialist, adjunct clinical faculty member, and researcher in the Department of Psychiatry, at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. She has been co- investigator and director of a 4-year, NIMH funded research grant on Borderline Personality Disorder, and currently serves as a consultant for the Iowa Department of Corrections to implement the STEPPS program in the Iowa prisons and in community corrections. Ms. Blum was a medical editor and writer for many years prior to receiving her MSW. She is co- author of the Structured Interview for DSM-IV Personality (with Bruce Pfohl and Mark Zimmerman, American Psychiatric Press), and STEPPS Group Treatment Program for Borderline Personality Disorder (with Norm Bartels, Don St. John, and Bruce Pfohl); STEPPS YP (Managing Emotional Intensity, for younger persons), and STEPPS EI (Managing Emotional Intensity, early intervention) with the Sussex Partnership of the National Health Service in the UK, as well as author or co-author of numerous journal articles and book chapters. She is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Association for Treatment and Research Advancements for Personality Disorders (TARA), a founding member and current board member of the North American Society for the Study of Personality Disorders (NASSPD) and is a Fellow of the American Psychotherapy Association. Ms. Blum presents numerous training workshops on psychiatric topics both nationally and internationally.
