Master of Arts in Human Services with an Emphasis in Forensic Behavioral Health (Degree and Certificate Programs Available)

The American Institute for the Advancement of Forensic Studies (AIAFS) partnered with Concordia University, St. Paul in the development of this master's degree and certificate program. Both programs target professionals who have an interest in the field of Forensic Behavioral Health and related care-systems. The first five courses outlined are offered as a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Behavioral Health.


Additional Program Information:

This program will provide human service professionals significant detail regarding the disabilities and disorders often associated with people involved in the criminal justice, legal, and forensic behavioral health care systems. In addition, students will learn evidence-based practices and intervention strategies that have demonstrated positive success with improving the lives of individuals involved in the criminal justice and legal systems.

Master of Arts in Criminal Justice - Leadership and Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice

The American Institute for the Advancement of Forensic Studies (AIAFS) partnered with Concordia University, St. Paul in offering both a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice-Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice.

When joining the Criminal Justice Program, you can expect exposure to comprehensive content that is balanced with foundational basics and real-world practical application. There is a dynamic team of professors who are leaders in their chosen Criminal Justice System careers and bridge their academic success with real-world expertise. Throughout the program you are set up for success and exposed to leadership skillset building techniques that will translate into your career choice or promotional aspirations.





Additional Program Information: Master of Arts Criminal Justice-Leadership

This program will provide both formal and informal Criminal Justice leaders significant interpersonal reflection, content involving administrative operation, work with diverse sub-cultural populations, deeper awareness regarding mental health considerations, wellness applications, organizational stakeholders, and legal and ethical decision-making processes. In addition, students will learn to enhance skillsets involving intervention strategies that have demonstrated positive outcomes with organizational success.

Additional Program Information: Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice

The Criminal Justice Bachelor of Arts Program is designed for the traditional student, online student, those newly entering a Criminal Justice System profession, and those who are already established and seeking promotions. The course content is an overarching view of the multi-systemic Criminal Justice System by offering students the opportunity to explore their professional interests while building valuable career-ready skillsets upon graduation.

  • For students who are already licensed MN peace officers, our courses have been approved by MN POST for continuing education (CE) credits toward annual licensure requirements.
  • For students on a non-POST-Licensure track, they will learn about the overarching and collaborative multi-systemic Criminal Justice System and career opportunities in various federal, state, county, local, tribal, international, as well as profit and non-profit organizations within the various sectors of the criminal justice system.
  • For those career-changers or Military professionals who aspire to become a MN Police Officer, we have designed an accelerated MN POST-Licensure Skills Certification Program. This will jump-start them into condensed POST academic courses with CSP and a seamless transition into a POST-Licensure SKILLS certificate program.

But wait, there's more! We also offer a study abroad program, where students who are interested in exploring the opportunity to pre-schedule designated courses for a study abroad experience can do so. This adventure will target practical application in multi-systemic Criminal Justice System components, current trending issues, and further develop communication and creative problem-solving skillsets.

  • Each course earns 4-credits and lasts only 7-weeks online or 14-weeks in a traditional (face-to-face) delivery system
  • Learn from expert instructors in a flexible delivery format, allowing for transition from online to traditional (vice-versa) should your professional schedule change
  • Online Delivery system: 100% online, asynchronous, course delivery format (meaning no required virtual meeting times)
  • Traditional Delivery system: 14-weeks course delivery format primarily face-to-face, with some online blended components
  • The program is approved by MN Peace Officer Standardized and Training (POST) for licensure eligibility
  • Each course is approved by MN Peace Officer Standardized and Training (POST) for CEs
